An ideal base to explore one of Britain’s most diverse historic cities

As a city that enjoys such rich cultural heritage, Cambridge is home to a huge number of attractions. With such a variety of entertainment, Churchill College is an ideal base for groups that are set on exploring Cambridge and it’s surrounding towns and cities. Located on the north-west edge of the city, Churchill College has excellent road connections to both the A14 and M11 – allowing tours to combine both central trips with those much further afield. In addition to an ideal location, we have approximately 100 on-site parking spaces, with facilities for coach parking close by. Although our accommodation is occupied during the college’s term times, we’re delighted to welcome leisure groups during college vacations – with our best value rates in August.

“The really important thing for us is the personal attention that all of our clients get.”

About Cambridge

The city of Cambridge combines a rich and cultural heritage with it’s position as the home of cutting edge technology, research and development.

Set on the banks of the River Cam, the city is rightly famous for its architecture – both ancient and modern – along with museums, art galleries, theatres and gardens.

The Fitzwilliam Museum has been described as ‘a museum collection of beauty, quality and rarity’ and is considered one of Britain’s best collections of art and antiquities. Kettle’s Yard is just 10 minutes’ walk from Churchill College and hosts a distinctive and changing collection of modern art, designed by its founder Jim Ede as a place ‘where visitors would find a home and a welcome, a refuge of peace and order, of the visual arts and of music’.

The stage features prominently in the cultural life of the city, with hundreds of professional and student productions a year. The Cambridge Arts Theatre offers the opportunity to see professional drama and West End shows, while the ADC Theatre hosts high-quality student drama, including the world-famous Footlights, and has provided a launch pad for such noted actors as Emma Thompson, Rachel Weiss and Sir Ian McKellen.

Cambridge is one of Britain’s best festival destinations, with dozens happening throughout the year. Some of the highlights include the Folk, Summer Music, Science, Shakespeare and Film festivals.

The city is also known for its wide range of shops, including many small independent stores and upmarket retailers. The new Grand Arcade features a number of national chains including John Lewis, Ted Baker and Links of London.
